Melanie’s areas of expertise include: executive development, competency assessment, career planning, coaching, facilitation and training, leadership coaching, and transition consulting. Melanie works within all sectors with a particular emphasis on private sector industries such as media, retail, financial services, consumer goods and education. Melanie’s coaching has been described as: “insightful”, “balanced”, “provocative” and “appropriately challenging”. She has worked with executives as they’ve onboarded into companies, been promoted and taken on increased responsibilities. Ever mindful of the need for coaching to result in positive organizational outcomes, Melanie is pragmatic and unwavering in her coaching.

Melanie has a double degree in education and honours English from York University. She received the inaugural Michael Ondaatje award for her high standing in her major throughout her five years. Prior to Hazell & Associates, Melanie taught in both the private and public school systems. She is currently pursuing her coaching certification with Coaches Training Institute and has recently qualified as a Myera facilitator and coach.

When she is not busy running her consulting practice with Michael Hazell (her brother and partner) and raising the visibility of LKTYP, Melanie devotes her attention to her three children which includes watching her son’s university football games, encouraging her older daughter’s humanitarian pursuits and supporting her younger daughter’s devotion to singing.
