Michael Hazell, CMP, President

Mike is President, co-founder of Hazell & Associates (H&A) and a founding partner of Career Partners International. Established in 1979, Hazell & Associates has the longest continuous management of any Canadian career transition company. A recognized leader in the fields of talent management and career transition, Mike works closely with senior executives and managers from various industries with a particular emphasis on banking, government, education, health care, mining and insurance. His areas of expertise include career planning and transition management, screening to hire, team building, organizational development and running a successful business.

Michael frequently acts as a strategic consultant to management teams who are planning for downsizing, restructuring, mergers/acquisitions or significant growth. Working with both public and private sector organizations, he has been the lead advisor to organizations planning for major restructuring, leadership development initiatives, and succession planning.

Mike received a national award through the Canadian Institute of Mining recognizing the benefits his work provided in helping individuals and organizations manage change. He is author of numerous articles published in the HR Reporter, other magazines and newspapers and is a sought after speaker on subjects pertaining to career management, outplacement, work/life balance and workplace trends. Mike frequently appears in the media and has made numerous presentations to various professional associations.

Mike sits on the Career Partners International board, and is a Certified Career Management Professional (CMP). He served on the Canadian Educational Standards Institute (CESI) and the Canadian Independent School’s (CIS) External Relations Committee and is currently on Ridley College’s Human Resource committee. He has a Level 2 National Coaching Certification. He is an active member of the IACMP and The Toronto Eglinton Rotary Club, where he is a director in charge of youth and vocational services.

Prior to his work at CPI/H&A, Mike worked in the independent school system, started two of his own businesses and served as town planner. Mike earned a bachelor of education degree, University of Toronto and bachelor of environmental studies, honours urban and regional planning degree, University of Waterloo where he won the prestigious Mike Moser Award for exemplary academic and extracurricular achievement and was a Rhodes Scholar nominee. Mike also graduated from Ridley College winning their top award, the Mason Gold Medal.
